HCSB assists hospitals when an assessment of a supply chain operation goes beyond its normal bounds. In these situations dramatic changes are often required. The whole philosophy, purpose, strategic focus and structure are examined. This type of engagement results in a complete revamping of the supply chain in an effort to align it with the overall goals and objectives of the total organization.

An example would be the development of a strategic plan which included the merger of a hospital systems two separate supply chain operations into one cohesive structure with the establishment of a Vice President position to lead the program.
